Batukamma is a festival celebrated by the women of Telangana region in Andhra Pradesh, India. Batukamma is also popularly known as boddemma.

'Batuku' means Live in telugu and 'Amma' means Mother. So Batukamma is celebrated for the Glory of Goddess Gauri.

Saddula Batukamma

This festival is celebrated for nine days and concludes on durgastami. This is knows as saddula batukamma. On this day they leave the batukamma in the lakes, it would be a treat to your eyes.

Vijaya Dashami is the festival celebrated in most of the states in India in different forms. In Andhra Pradesh the festival is celebrated as the success of Goddess Durga in killing the rakshasa Mahishashura. In Telangana region at the time vijaya dashami (i.e. 2 days before vijaya dashami) , BATHUKAMMA festival is celebrated by the women in the region. This is the most prominent and important festival for the women in the region. Also called as Boddemma.
